On 18 July, we brought more than 100 builders to Ljubljana for the 8x Mobile Hackathon.
The venue was Tehnološki park Ljubljana, with two floors full of teams, laptops, product ideas, half-working demos, last-minute fixes, and people trying to ship something real before the final deadline.
More than 60 teams built throughout the day. Some arrived with a clear direction. Others found the idea in the room. By the final demos, the whole venue had the feeling a good hackathon should have: fast, focused, a little chaotic, and full of people helping each other get across the line.
We were lucky to have strong partners behind the event, including OpenAI, ElevenLabs, PostHog, bilt.me, Silicon Gardens, Bek Ventures, and of course 8x.
This version of the day also brought YC and EF founder energy into the room, alongside operators with experience from San Francisco, Amazon, venture, product, and creator growth. That made the final demos feel less like a classroom presentation and more like a real room asking the hard question: could this become a company?

Thank You, Ljubljana
Huge thanks to everyone who came, built, judged, partnered, helped with the venue, and spent their Saturday with us.
The best part of the day was not only the final pitches. It was watching teams go from idea to prototype in a few hours, seeing builders meet each other for the first time, and feeling the room get more focused as the deadline got closer.
Thank you to Tehnološki park Ljubljana for hosting us across two floors and making the day feel properly alive.
Already looking forward to the next one.
